Nokia Siemens Networks to Provide O2 Germany with Radio Access Solution
Nokia (News - Alert) Siemens Networks and the German electrical engineering and electronics company, Siemens, said on Wednesday that Telefonica O2 Germany is planning to expand network coverage and capacity to give its customers enhanced mobile voice and online services.
Under a 3-year contract, Nokia Siemens Networks (News - Alert) will provide O2 Germany with its energy-efficient radio access solution, which will give O2 Germany environmental and operational benefits.
In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks will upgrade the 3G network with the High-speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) software functionality to cover all of Germany.
Besides modernizing the 2G network sites, Nokia Siemens Network will supply its EDGE software upgrade to bring high-speed data capability to the GSM network as well.
Nokia Siemens Networks also will provide the NetAct network management and service management solution for maximizing network performance as well as maintenance services.
Nokia Siemens Networks Services Deutschland, under a separate agreement, will provide O2 Germany with on-demand system repair and maintenance services at all operator's locations to guarantee undisturbed and quality network operation, while at the same providing operational benefits to O2.
